Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal information Contraption Cart collects on www.contraptioncart.com, how it is used, and your choices. Last updated 16 October 2026.

Who I am

Contraption Cart is a small business run by Shasa Bolton in Sheffield, Tasmania, Australia. In this policy, "I" and "me" mean Contraption Cart. I handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Information I collect

• Orders. When you buy something, I receive your name, email address, shipping address and order details so I can send your order. Payments are processed by PayPal (including Google Pay and Apple Pay through PayPal). I never see or store your card or bank details.
• Newsletter. If you subscribe, I store your name and email address so I can send you new designs, discounts and articles.
• Emails. If you email me, I keep your message and email address so I can reply and help with your order.
• Website usage. I use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, such as which pages are viewed and roughly where visitors are located. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies. It does not tell me who you are.
• Cart and currency. Your shopping cart and chosen display currency are saved in your own browser so they are still there when you come back. This information stays on your device.

How I use your information

• To process, ship and support your orders, including returns and refunds.
• To send the newsletter, if you subscribed.
• To reply to your messages.
• To improve the website and my products.
• To advertise my products, for example with Google Ads, and to measure how well those ads work.

I do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.

Services I use

I share information only with the services needed to run the shop:

• PayPal for payments. See the PayPal privacy statement.
• Google for Analytics and Ads. See Google's privacy policy and how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
• Cloudflare for hosting parts of the site, the newsletter sign-up and spam protection (Turnstile).
• Postal and courier services to deliver your order.
• Etsy handles orders placed on my Etsy shop under Etsy's own privacy policy.

Some of these providers store data outside Australia, including in the United States.

Google Ads management tool

I use a private, internal tool called Contraption Cart Ads to manage and report on Contraption Cart's own Google Ads account through the Google Ads API. The tool signs in with my own Google account and only accesses my own advertising account and its campaign and performance data. It does not access any customer's Google account or data.

Data received from Google APIs is used only to manage and report on my own advertising, is not shared with or sold to third parties, and is not used for any other purpose. Use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Cookies and your choices

• You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The shop still works, but analytics will not count your visit.
• You can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
• You can manage personalised Google ads at My Ad Center.
• You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any newsletter email, or by emailing me.

How long I keep information

I keep order records for as long as needed for tax, accounting and warranty purposes (usually 7 years under Australian law). Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe. Emails are kept while they are useful for helping you.

Security

I use reputable providers and take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. No method of sending or storing information online is completely secure.

Access, correction and complaints

You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information I hold about you by emailing me. If you have a privacy concern, please contact me first and I will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time. The latest version is always on this page.
